Ellasal Artifacts - A Collection of Essentials

For lesson/week 7, the lecture topic was about collecting and collections. The first activity was a group activity and it reads as follows:

"Collect a group of objects and create a way of displaying these objects that highlights the purpose of the collection."

So our party of 4 went down to the campus grounds on a quest: to find materials/ objects to create this imaginary collection/exhibit. These were the things we picked up:

We decided to arrange the objects by assembling them together into one whole rather than being displayed side to side as per a regular collection. We were selective with the objects and decided not to use some such as one of the clips and the bolts.

As we added on each object, we created a narrative and meanings for these objects and thus the purpose of the collection: a collection to display the various essential objects one requires to enter the world of ELLASAL.

The meanings and purpose of each object in the collection:

The magical witch tree of Lasalle

• You must eat all of the saga seeds to enter a majestic world

• The glass reflects enough light for optimum conditions for the tree to grow

• the yellow pad is the only kind of special soil that the tree can grow in

• If you make contact with the stones at the base your wish will come true

• Feather and the log come together. There is an invisible dimension in the log, where you can enter. The time in the magical world is balanced by the feather.

• Log is the main machine for travel so when you touch the log with the feather, you will be sucked in

• The clip is the main system for closing the hole. If it is removed, the whole ritual will fall apart, and all the spirits will leave and the tree will be destroyed.

• The flower at the tip controls the whole thing. It is the main power source.

• To leave the magical world, you must eat the leaves of the witch tree

• The seeds will keep coming out as long as the tree is alive

• If the tree dies, you won’t be able to leave the magical world

• The purpose of this world is to show viewers how they can enter the world of mystery ELLASAL
